Report Updated September 11, 2008 Illinois River nr the Starved Rock Dam: Water temperatures are hovering around 70 degrees. White bass fishing is fair - good. The river is up slightly, but the water clarity is good. Look for bass in the slack water areas around the dam. Whites are biting best on blade baits.
Report Updated Ju\ly 3, 2008 Heidecke Lake: Fishing is generally fair with some really big fish being picked up along the rip rap shorelines in the evening by anglers casting cranks. Walleye fishing is fair with some anglers picking them up in the evening hours on the humps of hte north pool jigging with crawlers. I caught an 8 pound striper and a 5 pound walleye last week in the evening.
