In there same livewell, is there a drain? I'm wondering if it has the strainer so bait won't get out when water is drained off from the bottom, by just unplugging the hose. Have seen livewells with 2 drains, one with a strainer to keep bait in the tank when dropping water level, and a seperate one that might plumb out of the boat for the purpose of draining when there is no bait in the tank.
Yep, it could be an aerator, could have been a regular water pump lower in the boat that **** water in from the outside. That pump would have had an air tube on it right at the output of the pump so as water passed by it sucked in air that was mixed with the water as it was pumped into the live well.
And it might have been a recirculator, the strainer side would have been the intake to the pump, as water was sucked out it keep the fish from getting stuck, and then the water went thru a pump and got blown back into the life well at the other side somehwere, or at the top fo the tank.
