Reds called up Aroldis Chapman and are going to use him in the pen.

    Should be fun watch.

We'll see. I've been watching him all year, and I'm not that impressed, nor are most other Bats fans I talk to. We call him "Wild Thing." When he was starting, he'd throw 4 or 5 wild pitches every game. He's doing better now that he's been made a closer, since he doesn't have to throw nearly as many pitches, but still, it seems like most of the pitches he throws >100 mph are outside the strike zone. The main way he's been getting K's is by getting minor-league hitters to chase bad pitches. It'll be interesting to see how he does against major-league hitting, but so far, he hardly seems worth the $30 million. JMO, and I hope I'm wrong, because I really do like seeing Bats players do well in the majors, especially when it's with the Reds.

Imagine being geared up to try and hit that and then it comes right at you, think you could get out of the way quick enough? I say most likely not and you get a nice boo boo.

Anyway he only managed to hit 102mph last night when he got put in

I wonder if anyone in MLB thinks the helmets need to be upgraded for safety reasons with these speeds that are coming at them now? If he is releasing at the wrong time trying to get these awesome speeds he could be dangerous!!

I don't think he has to throw strikes on every pitch. If he shows that he can throw a couple of strikes then all he needs to do is keep chucking because the batters have to start their swing during his windup. That slider he thows is just plain nasty. He hasn't thrown that pitch for a strike yet(that I know of), but the batters are still swinging at it. I think he has gotten every batter out that he has faced except for one and he walked that one.

My brother-in-law played during the time of Tom Seaver. He seemed to always start those games because he did pretty well against him. They used to say Seaver threw the ball knee high and ended up at your waist.

Yep, you're right, Marone, they seem to be chasing his pitches outside the strike zone, just like they did in the minors. And his control HAS gotten better. Earlier this season he was throwing multiple pitches to the backstop every game.

Yes he is throwing some heat! I think just as impressive is his near 90mph slider he throws. I would hate to be a lefty facing that.
