Corps suspends work on part of Wolf Creek Dam project

I'm more concerned about the safety of the people living downstream than getting the lake back to normal.

You know what amazes me , you guys act like the lake has been drained... It is still the biggest lake around ! So what if it stays at 680, there is still water over 100 feet deep in several spots. WAY deeper than barren ,green, dale hollow . AS for the problem THIS Came FROM ONE OF THE CORPS ENGINEERS working on the **** . There is a crack in the road at the edge of the concrete and the earthen part that was 1/2 inch wide in december. Now it is 1 inch wide so the are going to do some more sizemograph readings to see if they have disturbed something while they are building the wall. He said it was nothing to be alarmed about

"Nothing to be alarmed about"?? Yea...that was also once said by our defense dept. when they couldn't locate about 80% of the Imperial Japanesse Navy...Nov. 28th 1941. It was also a statment by AL Gore, when Aliver North informed Al and his buddies in Congress (1987), that Osama Bin Laden was the "most evil person alive"...and that is why he spent $60,000.00 on his families home security systems; when he and his family was threaten (Al and a few others scoffed at him...laughed out loud they did).
Catastophic dam failure have accoured frequently in our nation; there have been 33 major dam failures in the US. One in 1889 in Johnstown Penn, took over 2,000 lives. Even though that was over 100 years ago...there was another in the 1970's that was about as bad. You can look all this up on the Web. When it comes to man building things; it is never 100% perfect...So when it comes to harnessing one of natures most powerful forces...then to build it on unstable footing...folks, we have a MAJOR problem here...and there is something to be concerned about!!!
I personal have been catching more Largemouth and smallmouth bass now, than I ever have there. So the water level is fine for me; but Im not trying to run a buissness down there...Im not a wallie fisherman...Im not a big striper hunter...nor a trout enthusiast...but I bet they care about where the water level is...they would love even more areas of deep water...like we had!
It's just that when I hear the words "we have nothing to be alarmed about"!...that is when I turn on my radiar...pack my backpack...load my BAR...and be on alert notice like a rabbit out in the open. But that is just me.....

Duh. Everyone is.

Just because people are talking about the lake getting to normal pool doesnt mean that they care any less about public safety.

Thats like saying "I am more concerned about everyone finishing and not getting hurt than who wins". Just because someone cares who wins a Nascar race doesnt mean they think its more important than a someone dying in a crash.

I'm sorry, my bad.....I gained a little weight, and had my van loaded up with 3 six packs and a pizza when I drove across the dam a couple weeks back. Whodda thunk it, but it is what it is. My bad, I probably overloaded the designed capacity of the multi-million dollar project...........

Wasn't it the Corps that built the dikes levies in New Orleans. Trendie isn't it?!

If you are trying to smart ash me you failed miserably.This is a concern and the corps knows it.If the dam can stay there safely even at the present levels,it is fine with me and most others.

I did not know anything about the dam having some major issues until I talked with a fellow earlier today and he was telling me about it. The thing I would like to know is if I am up in Beaver or around Jamestown state dock fishing and the dam breaks would I have enough warning before I got pulled into the current? That would be a bad feeling. Don`t let me down now 250 Merc.
